About the Festival

From lively folk dances, through avant-garde movies to inspiring stories of migrants, who became a part of the Beatles City and are shaping new generations to come. European cultural heritage is colourful, rich and diverse. It’s a link that connects us with the past to help us build a better future and understanding of one another. It’s a beautiful symbol of stability in the ever-changing modern world, that we all need so much, especially now.

Communities of German, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Romania, Ukraine and many more will open their hearts and souls to show you their unique cultural heritage. Feel welcome to join us at the Liverpool European Festival to celebrate the culture of local European communities.

What’s our aim?

The Liverpool European Festival aims to provide a dynamic platform for European organisations and communities residing in the Liverpool city region to showcase their rich heritage, traditions, and contributions to the local tapestry.

Through a series of community-driven events, the festival seeks to foster greater understanding, collaboration, and appreciation among residents and visitors alike.

It started with the Eurovision

The 2023 Eurovision Song Contest opened up a great opportunity to highlight all European communities in Liverpool and wider Liverpool City Region, to work together and to show and involve everyone in our colourful culture. We believe that it was a perfect launchpad for the new annual Liverpool European Festival.
